Benjamin is the author of Javascotia, a novel from Hamish Hamilton, Penguin Books UK.

His short fiction has appeared in The Evansville Review, Qwerty, Belle Ombre, Cottonwood, and Slate. In 2015, his story "The White Man's Incredulity Furrows His Brow" won the short fiction contest with Puerto Del Sol.

His essays have appeared in Electric Literature, Thirty-Two, the London Guardian, London Times, & London Mirror. "The Mask of Deception," an essay, was a 2016 Editor's Choice pick at LongReads.

He holds a Masters of Letters from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. A Minnesota native, he has lived in New York since 2012 and teaches writing at Gotham Writer's Workshop.
