Introducing a new instructional offering. This course, Get Descriptive, first ran at The Loft Literary Center of Minneapolis, in 2010, in a live setting. Over the years, through teaching these lessons and prompts, they've been refined and improved.
The focus is on descriptive techniques in fictional prose. Everything is geared for writers in the literary genre. The majority of lessons look at excerpts from short stories and novels, but there is one essay in there, too, and the techniques taught can certainly be applied to both forms.
Eight lessons and accompanying stories or excerpts are included, drawing on works from some top fiction writers, including Marissa Silver, Tobias Wolff, and William Gass.
